Dishonest portrayal in the media of ancient Egyptians
I watch a lot of documentaries by so called reputable media companies and one thing that is consistent with many of them is the use of European actors and actresses to portray the ancient Egyptians. Seeing another of their lying documentaries broadcasted on the Smithsonian channel prompted me to pen an email to To: scholarlypress@si.edu as follows:
I know that this email may fall on deaf ears but I am curious as to why your company would show the ancient Egyptians who were black and brown people as shown on the walls of the pyramids as tanned Europeans with straight hair which is patently false. All scholars who are honest know that the Egyptians who descended from Ham were people of color but your channel continues to perpetuate lies which is dishonest journalism and scholarship. Aren’t there enough actors and actresses of color that can be used by your company to accurately portray what the ancient Egyptians look like? I can no longer sit by and watch this type of intellectual dishonesty by a company who is supposed to be an institution of higher learning and not say anything.
I am waiting for their response to see how they will try to wiggle their slimy way out of their racist behavior.
